The Echo Park, Los Angeles band Mystic Braves sounds like the hip psychedelic music your dad (or grandpa) may have been groovin’ to in their wood-paneled, shag-carpeted basement crash pad circa 1967. And, they’ve got the facial hair and wardrobe that will make you think the Ace of Cups front door is a time machine that has transported you back some 50 or so years.
It’s nice to hear exotic instruments that aren’t so common in today’s computer-generated pop world – you’ll hear an organ, tambourine, Mellotron keyboard and sitar sprinkled into Mystic Braves’ music along with the traditional guitar, bass and drums.
Mystic Braves and The Rough Touch will perform at Ace of Cups on Saturday night. Doors at 9pm and cover is $15.
