This past Tuesday I headed over to the A&R Music Bar in the Arena District to catch the Lemon Twigs with opener Josephine Network. I have to say this was a show I had been looking forward to for a while and it did not disappoint.

If you have not been to the A&R Music Bar it is located at 391 Neil Avenue right above The Basement and next to KEMBA Live!. The venue is small and intimate and the perfect setting for the show.

Let me give you a little background on both bands before I get into the night.

Josephine Network is a New York City project fronted by a singer-songwriter who goes by Josephine. The Josephine Network has a great crunchy power pop sound reminiscent of Shoes. I’ve been playing the CD constantly in my car. I picked it up at the show and Josephine kindly signed it for me.

The Lemon Twigs are brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario from Long Island. If you are not familiar with them, think Beatles and Beach Boys filtered through a glam rock sensibility and played with an almost frightening level of musicianship. They come from a musical family and even covered their dad’s songs on a RSD release last year. They have been at it since 2016 and you can tell.  The latest album, Look For Your Mind! dropped last Friday and I picked up an advance copy at the show as well. Sadly no autograph.

Josephine Network opened and honestly won the room pretty quickly. Josephine is a natural on stage and the band behind her was locked in and having a great time. They played a tight set and the crowd enjoyed the performance.

The Lemon Twigs took it from there and put on one of the best shows I have seen in Columbus in a while. Brian and Michael have this almost telepathic thing going on that is really something to watch.  The Lemon Twigs lived up to my expectations and put on a great show with a mix of power pop and amazing harmonies only brothers can pull off.

Was a great night in Columbus and I’ll be sure to check out both of these bands next time they are in town. I’m interested to see how the Josephine Network grows from here. Both albums are definitely worth a stream and a purchase if you enjoy them.

I was fortunate enough to grab some photos from the show to share with you. Enjoy!!
