If you read my stuff over at Donewaiting.com, you’ll know I’m a HUGE ’80s hair metal fan so when I saw a long-haired band on an O’Shecky’s show poster earlier this week, I had to do some more investigation into this Black Hole Gypsy band.
Turns out these kids (ranging in age from 14 to 18) are from Mansfield and while they play out quite a bit, Columbus shows are pretty few and far between. Not only am I shocked by the ages of the guys in the band (the 14-year-old, by the way, is the singer!) but I’m shocked at how much Black Hole Gypsy reminds me of all the opening bands I used to see at the Akron Agora in the early ’90s.
If the names Dangerous Toys, Shark Island, Guns N’ Roses, Crashdiet, and/or Motley Crue mean anything to you, do yourself a favor and check these guys out on Friday night at O’Sheckys (6240 Busch Blvd).
