Musicians, music appreciators, and night life junkies, here is your weekly guide to the Columbus music scene. Whether you’ve got a rock n’ roll heart or a craving for heavy EDM drops, there is something for you. Check out what Columbus has to offer you this weekend.

This weekend is pretty light in terms of concerts as opposed to Halloween parties and cover shows. For those of you still looking for a different brand of concert then look no further.

FRIDAY SHOWS (30TH)

Insane Clown Posse, P.O.D.

(Hip/Hop)

ICP

Insane Clown Posse spraying the crowd.

Insane Clown Posse is notoriously “insane” live. Their concerts produce some of the rowdiest and aggressive environments. Some of their gimmicks include chainsaws on stage, fires, and lighting off liter bottles of Faygo (soda). This show will be twisted and appropriate for a Halloween weekend to say the least. The opener P.O.D. will add another level of energy to the line-up as well

Doors: 6:30 PM @ The Newport Music Hall – 1722 N High St, Columbus, OH 43201

Tyrone Wells, Ernie Halter

tyrone Wells

Tyrone Wells live.

(Acoustic)

Simple, pure, and uplifting. This show is in sharp contrast to ICP. Need a break from the horror and darkness of Halloween? Then go see this is an acoustic show with a beachside ambience. Any fans of Jack Johnson should check this one out.

Starts: 8:00 PM @ Rumba Café – 2507 Summit St, Columbus, OH 43202

SATURDAY SHOWS (31ST, HALLOWEEN)

Yonder Mountain String Band

Yonder Mountain String Band

Yonder Mountain String Band killing it live.

(Bluegrass)

Younder Mountain String Band can be described as a Bluegrass jam band. I’d use this description because they aren’t a “backcountry” bluegrass band, but that banjo does come shining through. Bottom line is they are fun to listen to. It’s music that will make you dance. As ironic as it may seem, you will be jolly on Halloween after this show.

Doors: 7:00 PM @ LC Pavilion – 405 Neil Ave, Columbus, OH 43215

SUNDAY SHOWS (NOV 1ST)

Andy Mineo

(Hip/Hop)

Andy Mineo is a rapper who sounds like a mix between Kanye and Kendrick in terms of voice and flow. I hadn’t heard of him before this weekend but after listening to his album Uncomfortable I became a fan. The way he feels each beat is unique and catchy. Anyone into rap needs to check this guy out. Then feel free to stick around or come back later to Skully’s for The Flex Crew for your Reggae fix.

Details:

Starts: 6:00 PM @ Skully’s – 115 N High St, Columbus, OH 43201

*Flex Crew @ 10:00 PM

Wild Child

(Acoustic)

Looking to wrap up your weekend in a cozy, little, acoustic bundle? Come see Wild Child for the least wild show you’ve ever seen. This band has a serene sound that will put a soft smile on your face. I wouldn’t describe it as soft rock, country, or folk, even indie. I would describe it as pleasant. Simple as that. Check them out!
