These anniversary tours are a funny thing – bands go out and perform all the songs from a particular album from their past and, often, some of these songs are being played live for the first time.
In an interview with Billboard.com this week, The Rocket Summer’s Bryce Avary said the Do You Feel 10th anniversary tour – which makes a stop at Skully’s on Thursday – features the live debut of some of the songs as well as a second set of songs pulled together from the rest of the band’s discography. Nostalgia’s a wonderful thing and The Rocket Summer’s fanbase – many of which probably were in high school when Do You Feel was released – has been selling out countless dates on this tour with people reconnecting with the feel-good indie-pop from their teen years.
While on tour, Avary’s been working on the follow up to 2016’s Zoetic and last month dropped a catchy new single (“Gone Too Long”) which has been showing up on this tour’s setlist.
Time is running out if you want to pick up an advance ticket ($17). You can pick up tickets at Magnolia Thunderpussy Records, Used Kids Records, Rumba Cafe or online. If you want to take the risk of the show selling out, $20 tickets will be available at Skully’s on Thursday. Great ready to party like it’s 2007!
