Columbus Calling Podcast #4 – Broken Records and Beehives

Hello Record Geeks, I had the opportunity to chat with Jeremy Scott owner of Broken Records and Beehives. The shop is located in Grandview at the corner of King Ave and Hess St. near King Avenue 5. There is ample parking near the store and the ubiquitous record store signage. The space is large and contains a hair salon, run by Jeremy’s wife, Allison. They recently hired a licensed Barber. The record store has a nice selection of new and used records. Prices are fair and there is a nice bargain bin. They feature local artists paintings as well as jewelry. Tuesday – Lieutenant (featuring Nate Mendel of the Foo Fighters) at The Basement

The Basement is celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary with a show by Lieutenant, the new project fronted by Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel. Lieutenant released If I Kill This Thing We’re All Going to Eat earlier this year and it’s a nine-song album of lighter indie-pop, something you might expect if you’re familiar with Mendel’s pre-Foo Fighters band, Sunny Day Real Estate. Because releasing an album or two a year with Buffalo Killers wasn’t enough action, singer/guitarist Andy Gabbard is releasing a solo album (Fluff) next week. As part of the promo tour, Gabbard’s going to be playing a free show on the new Used Kids stage on Saturday. WIG (featuring members of Moon High) and Me Time (Dayton) are also performing.
