We might not be getting a tour stop from the Pixies, but two artists who are on the undercard on the Pixies current tour will be making pit stops in Columbus in this week.

Mitski Miyawaki, who will hop on the Pixies bill Saturday night in Grand Rapids, plays Skully’s on Wednesday night with Stef Chura. Mitski is touring to support her critically-acclaimed 2016 release Puberty 2 (Dead Oceans Records), a pretty-yet-dangerous, art-rock album that has earned comparisons to artists ranging from St. Vincent to Frankie Cosmos to Julian Baker. Doors open at 7:30 and tickets are $18.

Mitski is jumping on the Pixies tour just as Sunflower Bean drops off. The NYC trio, whose April 2016 Columbus appearance was captured by Annalisa Hartlaub, squeezes in a show at Rumba Cafe on Thursday night before heading off to Detroit to play their final show with the Pixies. After that, Sunflower Bean will spend November touring the UK opening for Wolf Alice. Hello Luna and Betsy Ross open the show. Doors at 8pm, $10 cover.

Also on Thursday, rapper Whitney Peyton opens for Twizted at the Alrosa Villa. It’s easy to get lost in the multi-band bill featuring Juggalo-affiliated artists like Blaze Ya Dead Homie but Whitney’s got a strong stage presence and will have no problems capturing the audience’s attention with her electronica-influenced songs. Whitney just dropped a brand new video (“You Are”) that, if you’re checking out in a work or school situation probably requires headphones due to some language. Alrosa doors open at 6pm and tickets are $25 in advance, $30 day of show.
