My favorite thing I experienced in Columbus this past year was Rock on the Range. This is a special music festival each year for the heavy metal fans of the midwest. Every year it harbors the unique and uproarious atmosphere that makes it a one of a kind experience. It is louder, heavier, and more enthusiastic than similar festivals in the surrounding area, and this is largely thanks to the promotional work of Loper and Randi whose morning show on 99.7 The Blitz unites a community of metal heads across all of Columbus. Every year, Rock on the Range is the weekend I look forward to the most.
Rock on the Range is a good choice, but my vote goes to something more local. My favorite part of 2015 was the birth of “THE Rock and Roll Radio Show,” which broadcasts weekdays 3 to 6 pm on WQTT 1270 AM out of Marysville. Host Ian Graham is a disciple of Alan Freed and presents a wide selection of rock-related music from the past 60 years. Considering that Graham is only 23, he is an amazing encyclopedia of musical knowledge. It doesn’t matter whether the rock ‘n’ roll is old or new, international or local, The Young Prince of the Moondoggers plays it all.
That is very cool. It is rare that a well-rounded and good rock station comes around. I still am getting over the loss of 105.7 “The Brew.” I’ll definitely be checking this one out.
That’s awesome! It is rare that a good, well-rounded rock station comes around. I still miss 105.7 “The Brew” from before it turned into “The X.” I’ll have to check this guy out.
